A WIDE VARIETY OF WILDLIFE can be seen across Newfoundland, such as Rabbits, Foxes, Ducks, Moose, Salmon, Whales and MORE! In fact, the Northern Penninsula of Newfoundland is -Internationally Recognized - due to the High Density of Moose In The Area, with nearby Roddickton known as the 'Moose Capital of The World'. Also, it is common to see migrating pods of Minke Whales and Humpback Whales from the shoreline near the Motel at various times throughout Spring and Summer, along with many Icebergs. |

A 20 Kilometer (12.5 Mile) drive away is BURNT CAPE ECOLOGICAL RESERVE, A Naturalist's Dream World flourishing with a variety of Unique and Rare Floras from the Calciphile (Calcium loving plant) and Arctic species, among others, which grow wild along a stretch of Fossil Rich Limestone Coastline. In addition to this, it is the -World's Only - known location for 'Burnt Cape Cinquefoil' (Potentilla Usticapensis) and -Newfoundland's Only - discovered location for both the 'Dwarf Hawksbeard' (Crepis Nana) and the 'Arctic Lesser Dandelion' (Taraxacum Phymatocarpum). |

![]() -World Famous - L'ANSE AUX MEADOWS, the Only Confirmed Viking Settlement in North America, was designated in 1978 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with an INTERPRETATION CENTRE and re-constructed VIKING SOD HOUSES open to visitors. According to Norse Saga, at around 1000 A.D., after surviving daring ocean travel in small, open plank boats from Greenland, brave Viking explorers discovered what is believed to be Vinland - 'Land of Meadows'. Celebrations marked the 1000th anniversary since Leif Ericson, son of Eric the Red, dropped anchor at North America's first known European settlement - ALL just a mere 12 Km (7.5 Mile) drive from your doorstep!!
